Building a Winning Team

Setting up and sustaining business partnership can be the most difficult part of entrepreneurship. Most business partnership are rarely successful. There have been some awesome teams assembled such as the Olympic Gold winning Dream Team, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak of Apple and the Navy’s elite SEAL team Six.

The most effective team ever assembled was built by Jesus when He called His 12 disciples to join His ministry. In Luke 6:13, Jesus spent a night in prayer, then called His disciples and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles.

Great teams require Talent, Trust and Time. Good leaders understand they must constantly be on a Talent Hunt. They also know that Talent takes Time to Develop. Jesus spent 3 years to develop His disciples. When building your team look for these Five C’s:

Competency – They can do the job well.
Character – They can do the job with integrity and a solid work ethic.
Chemistry – They fit well with the people on the current team.
Capacity – They have potential to grow with the team.
Culture – They agree with our code of conduct and how we do things on our team.

Jesus was in covenant relationship with His team of disciples. He loved them until the end. He even had compassion on Judas, the one member of His Dream Team that betrayed Him. He trusted them with His message and they continued His mission even after His death.
