Have you ever heard the statement, “there is a church on every corner”? I have. And I have also observed in the spaces where this is true, that these are economically impoverished neighborhoods.
I believe that when we have more business on the block than churches we will begin to see community transformation, especially when the businesses there are operated by Godly servant leaders. There will be spiritual, social, relational and economic impact!!!
God has always called people from the business community to follow Him in service and discipleship. He called Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3. The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Other business people He called were Moses (prince and shepherd); Joseph (politician and visionary leader); Elisha (farmer and cattle owner); Job (the richest man on earth); Solomon (the wisest man on earth); Aaron (skilled artisan and spokesman). Jesus even called His disciples from their workplaces to be on His ministry team. “Follow Me and I will teach you how to catch men”. (Matthew 4:19)
Today, God is still calling His children in business to serve Him right there. You don’t need to go back to seminary or take a class or add anything to your work hours to do this! Do you here the Spirit’s voice calling you today?
