Don’t you grieve daily from the stories of the plight, poverty, and pain of people in America’s inner cities? These communities are in critical times. The problems did not just happen overnight. They are a result of many factors over many decades. The #1 reason is roots of racial sin and neglect. This sin of the Big “C” Church must be recognized, repented of, and repaired.
We are one Church and Jesus illustrated what His kingdom people are like in the parable of Matthew 13:24-25. “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” My application of this is that while the Church was sleeping and as a result of the racial sins of neglect and indifference, America’s inner cities happened. Now we are wondering how to fix the problems.
This is why I am committing the next half of my life and ministry to the vision of the National Black Fellowship. The NBF of the Assemblies of God is a Movement of Hope that is desperately needed. For the past 34 years, I have served as a Pastor in the inner city of Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is just one of many cities in need of spiritual, community, and economic transformation. The NBF has a solution and strategy called REACH 25. This endeavor relies upon the person and power of the Holy Spirit because these cities suffer under demonic strongholds and oppression. Yet the endeavor also will require courageous conversations of how we approach church planting, non-profit outreach, economic development, taking personal responsibility, casting a fresh vision, and developing committed partnerships.
I am excited for the future of our inner cities and am inviting you, your church, and organization to join with me in redeeming souls and transforming communities.
